Event Safety in the Real World - Presentation (including slides)

This week I was invited to speak with a class of Masters students in DIT on Event Safety. The goal was to give them a feel for the actual practice of keeping people safe at events.

'Event Safety' can seem like a scary prospect to people working in events.

I understand why. I do.

That said, it doesn't NEED to be scary.

There are simple elements to it that everyone can apply and understand.

You don't need to be an Event Controller or Safety Officer to understand a lot of the tenets of simple Event Safety.

In this particular presentation the goal was to bring home to the people in the class how basic a lot of elements of Event Safety are and how you don't need to be an Event Safety professional to spot them and understand they're a risk.

Here's the slide deck from the presentation:

P.S. the eagle-eyed among you will notice a mistake re the Olympics in London. It wasn't in 2010. It was in 2012.
