Shit Happens. Even At The Golden Globes.

It's important to understand when you run events that irrespective of how much meticulous planning goes into the event, inevitably shit will still happen. That's the way of the world.

We've spoken about this before (sort of) in a post entitled 'The Superbowl From An Events Perspective. Shit Happens'

In hindsight we now wish we'd not included the 'shit happens' in that one. It's WAY more apt here. So we've used it again.

At the Golden Globes the other night it appeared that a sewerage pipe burst right under the red carpet flooding it in dirty water and spreading a lovely smell of sewerage.

There were also unconfirmed reports that it was in fact some overheated lights that set off a sprinkler system but that wouldn't really explain the smell that everyone was reporting. Even the E! reporters couldn't ignore the whole filthy episode. The picture below was tweeted by Ryan Seacrest.

Now, I'm sure you can imagine the level of planning and preparation that will have gone into the Golden Globes. They will have covered every eventuality. They probably didn't cover THIS particular one though.

So there you have it.

Shit happens.

Luckily in this particular case the Beverly Hills Fire Department showed up within 15 or 20 minutes and sorted it all out.

Swoon. Our heroes!

It could have been the sprinklers. The water can be in the pipes for a long time so the first blast of it smells pretty damn bad. I had to admit I laughed at this, it must have been a nightmare for the event organisers.

Hi there! We don't really operate as Cuckoo Events any longer.

The majority of our work now is done as Safe Events. This website is still live as there are a LOT of resources on here - particularly in our Blog section - that people still access very regularly. If that's why you're here, carry on!

If you're looking to maybe speak with us about working with you on your event, then click below and come see us at Safe Events.
