Full-Time Role Available With Cuckoo Events

We need someone to join the adventure here in Cuckoo Events and Safe Events. We've won a range of new business recently and have also had a Team member leave us and move back home to Kerry. We still love her but she's far away now.

We've never advertised a full-time role before.

We've always either offered internships that we felt would turn into a full-time role (they all did) or we've offered placements for students. 2 of our current full-time staff came in as interns and are now key members of the Team in here. When we've done internships, it was so that we'd have time to help someone settle in and fit in with us before things got busier.

The difference now is that 'busier' is just the far side of Christmas.

What you'll be doing

The Event Manager / Project Assistant will potentially work across any and all of our events, but will definitely be working on Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2018 in Drogheda.

The Fleadh is the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music, language, song and dance. With attendance numbers in excess of 400,000 people, the event is estimated to be worth over €40 million to the local economy. It will be easily one of the single largest events in Ireland in 2018.

We secured the work in the last few months, on foot of a public tender competition. It is a significant undertaking and will involve all our Team to varying degrees. Elaine in here is our Project Manager for the Fleadh and you will work closely with her to plan and manage this huge event.

If you're successful in securing this role, you will be primarily working on the Fleadh initially but will also work on other projects as necessary.

Who we THINK we want

We think this role will suit someone who has a couple of years' experience in events and definitely knows it's for them. Maybe you're looking for a change or a new challenge. Maybe you want to work on some bigger projects both here and abroad.

It will likely suit someone who wants experience in and exposure to the full event life-cycle, from planning through to delivery. You need to be excited by that prospect. You need to be as comfortable planning events as you are working on them.

We're both strategic and operational in here and it's one of the things that sets us apart.

A full driving licence would probably be helpful too as well as experience in Microsoft Excel.

Who we really want

We've no idea.

We've always hired based on our gut feeling and the vibe we get from someone and we intend to continue in that vein.

YOU need to show US why you're who we need.

It's as simple as that.

A little advice

Take a look around our websites over at Cuckoo Events and Safe Events. Look at the kind of work we do and see does it excite you.

Do yourself justice. If we're the right fit for you, then show us. We get unsolicited approaches for work every day of the week and when we advertise something we get a LOT of applications. You need to stand out.

CVs and cover letters are standard. If that's the path you choose then have a read of this article we put together a while back.

We're very picky. We trust our instincts. If we don't think you're right for us that doesn't mean you won't have a superb career in this industry. We've had people who didn't suit us that have gone on to work with high-profile event management companies here in which they fit much better than they would have with us.

The details

The role will be normally based at our HQ on Francis Street in Dublin.

The deadline for applications for this role is 5pm on Friday 22nd December

You can send whatever you want in support of your application to mark@cuckoo.ie or to the office at 79 Francis Street, Dublin 8, D08E9F4

We will be looking to bring people in to meet with us in early January, with a view to the successful person starting as soon as possible thereafter.

Here's what 2017 looked like

We worked on a wide range of events both here and internationally.

They include the following:

We work on a wide range of events and are generally responsible for the clear majority, if not all, of the planning and event management of events we work on. We take on a lot of responsibility and we take it seriously.

All that said, we're far from your typical event management company or corporate environment. We enjoy ourselves at work but we get the work done. If you're looking for a traditional office environment then we're not for you.

If you're looking to take the first / next step in your career and want to work with some of the most dedicated event professionals around then maybe you should try come work with us.
